Final Report: Economic assessment of the COSMOS value chains. This deliverable will provide the final results of the economic assessment (Task 7.4). This task will give a clear picture of the economic implications of the COSMOS value chains identified in task 7.1 by two main parts: A detailed market and competition analysis (1) for all value chains will be conducted to get an overview of the markets of the products focused on by the COSMOS project. This involves a literature review, interviews and workshops. Both typical competing raw materials (tropical plant oils) and conventional products (chemicals from petroleum) will be included as references. Furthermore a life cycle costing (LCC) and techno-economic evaluation (TEE) (2) analyses the economic performance of a production chain on a life cycle basis. It uses economic indicators such as investment cost, production costs, product costs and target costing, internal rate of return and external costs.
