Methane and ethane gas analysis in combination with carbon dioxide isotope analysis at specific locations

This report will describe selection criteria for gas samples from field sites using their chemical and isotopic characteristics in the context of their 3D subsurface source(s). A subset of gas (especially methane) samples will be analysed using new mass spectrometer-based isotopologue instrument in USA, and assessed for the viability of this method in discriminating between natural and anthropogenic sources of gas in the European environment.
