Models for the specification of ionospheric background

The precise identification of TIDs requires accurate determination of the background conditions that define the level of the ambient electron density. The report presents new algorithms for the calculation of the ambient electron density and the corresponding values of MUF, TEC and foF2 through systematic assessment of several state of the art methodologies.
